sheet of card stock per favour
template
stamps to match your decor
acrylic paint & small paint brushes
scissors
hot glue gun & glue sticks
ribbon
favour tags (optional)
Popsicle stick or butter knife

Instructions
1.
Print the template out as many times as needed. Cut out
your boxes along the solid lines. I downloaded my template
for free from www.thepaperzone.com
but if you do a search for free paper box templates you
get lots of results.
2. Time to get stamping! Stamp on the sides with no lines,
this is the exterior of the box. Try a few sample designs
first. Do you want an all over pattern or just a single
large stamp to embellish the box? Once you figure out your
pattern and colours stamp all of the boxes and let them
dry. I did mine in an all over print using several stamps
and a shimmery blue paint to tie in to my celestial theme.
HINT: when stamping load the stamp with paint then stamp
it once on a paper towel to off load extra paint, this will
give your finished stamping a more even effect overall but
remember this is hand made imperfections are great they
add lots of charm!
3. Start folding all those boxes, the fold lines are dotted
and the glue lines are solid. To get a good crease use the
Popsicle stick or butter knife to go over your folded lines.
Only worry about the straight lines now, you'll be folding
the curved ones later.
4. Fire up the old hot glue gun and run a bead of glue on
the inside of the box where it joins. Hot glue may seem
a bit excessive but it hold tight for a long period of time
and it dries quickly. Once the glue is set pop open the
boxes to their tube shape and fold the curved end inward
to close them. If you want to seal one end do so now by
adding a dab of glue and closing the flaps.
5. Add some ribbon, I did a simple wrap of ribbon over the
centre of the box with tail. This was done by wrapping the
ribbon around once sticking it down with a dab of hot glue
and then cutting a v shaped notch at the loose end of the
ribbon. I used a 1" wide unwired ribbon. I think a
small bow with a thinner ribbon would also be nice.
6. Attach the favour tags using hot glue or thread them
on to the tails of your bow.
7. Fill boxes with candy of your choice, this is the yummy
part and there you have a frugal favour box that is custom
made for your wedding.
The
finished product!
